Mission Programs

God comes to us in free and undeserved favor in the person of Jesus Christ who lived, died, and rose for us so that we might belong to God and serve Christ in the world. Following Jesus, Presbyterians are engaged in the world and in seeking thoughtful solutions to the challenges of our time.

Presbyterians affirm that God comes to us with grace and love in the person of Jesus Christ, who lived, died, and rose for us so that we might have eternal and abundant life in him. As Christ’s disciples, called to ministry in his name, we seek to continue his mission of teaching the truth, feeding the hungry, healing the broken, and welcoming strangers. God sends the Holy Spirit to dwell within us, giving us the energy, intelligence, imagination, and love to be Christ’s faithful disciples in the world.

Countryside Presbyterian Church is a vital community of Christians dedicated to serving God’s people in the local community and worldwide.

Interfaith Emergency Services, Marion County’s centralized organization for community outreach, is Countryside’s most significant local partner in mission.

Presbyterian Women give financial support to Church Women United, Domestic Violence Center, Duvall Home, Sheltering Arms, St. Augustine Presbytery PW, and Thornwell Home.

Presbyterian Men sponsor the Children’s Giving Tree each November, providing Christmas gifts and food for families referred to us by a local elementary school.

Crafty Christians, our sewing and crafts group, meet monthly to create items that can be used by clients at the Rape Crisis and Domestic Violence Center, Kimberly’s House (Children’s Advocacy Center), and various hospitals and nursing homes.

Countryside also provides mission support through the Presbytery of St. Augustine to Jamaica Ecumenical Mutual Missions programs.

In cooperation with the Presbyterian Development Agency of PCUSA, we provide support also to special offerings including the One Great Hour of Sharing, Peacemakers Offering, Pentecost, and Joy Offering programs.

Musical Offerings

Chancel Choir

As part of our traditional worship service, the Chancel Choir provides musical offerings and leads the congregation in hymns. The choir sings a great variety of traditional hymns and sacred music.

Our Chancel Choir rehearses from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. each Wednesday during the regular season and welcomes anyone with a heart to sing.

Handbells

The Handbell Choir provides music for special services throughout the year.

Handbell rehearsals are held each Wednesday from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. during the regular season.

Praise Team

As part of our worship and music program, the Praise Team provides contemporary Christian musical offerings at our Early Service.

Our Praise Team rehearses from 3:00 to 3:30 p.m. each Wednesday during the regular season.

Special Music

We like to invite musicians in our congregation and in our community to participate in our worship services. We also invite ensembles and students from local schools and local professional musicians to join us to offer unique musical offerings.

Countryside has numerous vocalists and musicians among its members who offer special music solos, duets, and ensemble renditions of music made for worship.

Concert Program

Sunday Afternoon Arts at Countryside offers varied musical entertainment on the second Sunday afternoon of each month (September through May) at 3:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary.
